BASIC INFORMATION

The Symposium of Applied Arts Schools of the Czech Republic 2010 is the third year of international meetings of art and craft fields of secondary schools which takes place upon the support of Liberec region.
It comes out and follows up the tradition and presence of glass-making, bijouterie and jewellery industry and specialised education focused on such fields.
Seven schools, thirteen workshops, nine days’ time - from 18 to 26 September 2010 - that’s where and when the eighty young artists will implement their creative views with one universal topic
„FOUR BASIC ELEMENTS“.
Participants can thus compare their creativity and craftsmanship. In the supporting programme, they can learn about the interesting things in Liberec region, visit important companies, also special seminars, cultural and sports programmes and other activities will be prepared. The symposium is outlined as a competition and, in every workshop, one winning work will be awarded by the jury.
The symposium will finish with a ceremonial vernissage in Glass Museum in Nový Bor. The winning works will be donated to the collections of North-Bohemian Museum in Liberec, and the rest will - after the end of the exhibition - stay in the property of schools in which they were created. Such a school will then be entitled to sell these works in an auction for the benefit of education of that particular school’s young artists.
