ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR´S PRIZE
This year for the first time, the prize PRO BONO has been awarded by the PILA organization together with the Czech Bar Association on the occasion of the festive event Advocate of the Year in Brno.
This prestigeous event was held on January 22, 2010 and the award for the advocate of the year, this time Mgr. Štěpán Holub, was designed and manufactured by our school.
The purpose of the prize is to award the advocate, who provided a principal pro bono service, i.e. without any remuneration, in his or her free time, on basis of a requirement from the Pro Bono Centre. Thus, it is not just a matter of a law, but of the „good“ law, helping destitute and hard run people who otherwise wouldn´t have been able to solve their serious problem in a legal way. Fotogallery

COUNCILMEN ZDENĚK BURSA AND PAVEL PETRÁČEK VISITED OUR SCHOOL
The visit of Stanislav Eichler, the regional commissioner of the Liberec Region and his deputy for education Radek Cikl in the end of the last year, the Higher Professional Glass School and Secondary School Nový Bor has been visited also by Zdeněk Bursa, an economic councilman and his collegue Pavel Petráček, entrusted to lead the social matters and minorities department, at the beginning of this week. They met the school headmaster Ilona Jindrová.
„We want to learn in detail the study conditions in Nový Bor prior the decision of the Liberecký Region Council – to integrate the Secondary Art Glass School Kamenický Šenov with the Higher Professional Glass School and Secondary School Nový Bor and under what conditions. Together with the headmaster we looked over all classrooms including workshops and the hot shop for the council members not to decide without any knowledge, but on basis of their own experience,“ Zdeněk Bursa explained the reason of their visit.
THE COMMISSIONER OF THE LIBEREC REGION VISITED THE SCHOOL
On Thursday, December 17, Bc. Stanislav Eichler, the commissioner of the Liberec Region and his deputy for education Bc. Radek Cikl visited the Glass School Nový Bor. PaedDr. Ilona Jindrová, the headmaster of the school showed the guests round workshops and the school hot shop, as the practical training is the most interesting feature of the school. The education took its high course and the practical training masters together with their pupils and students described individual decorative glass techniques for the visitors. The commissioner and his deputy observed with interest the techniques taught at the school – glass painting, engraving, grinding off and out, mould making and glass blowing and discussed both with students and teachers. As the visitation was really thorough, informal and full of interest in the actual school life, after two hours there came time for a working lunch and a discussion. A designer, architect and among others also an outstanding cook Bořek Šípek prepared an excellent lunch full of Asian flavours at the school hot shop. The commissioner learned also a practical assistance with Mr. Šípek and his glassblowers at making one of their objects. Both the councilmen expressed their gratification with the equipment of the professional training workshops, the school hot shop and with the skill of both masters and their students, and wished them best luck in studies.
