PRACTICAL GLASS WORKSHOPS

■ for beginners and advanced
are set for Czech and foreign applicants. They are given in weekly cycles. Any applicant can choose between two main models of practising. The basic model is set for beginners, the other one for advanced people, who have already had an experience in common basic techniques. There is possible to set a specific training content according to applicant´s experience and interest.

GLASS BLOWING

■ for beginners
Gathering of glass on a pipe, core and blank blowing, gathering over the core and blank, free blowing of simple shapes and turn mouldblowing into a wooden mould.
- recommended number of cycles: 3 to 6 weeks
■ for advanced
Free blowing and turn mouldblowing of more complex shapes, decorating with hot glass, overlaid glass, other hot decorating technics and finishing of products. Applicants can set a specific training content according to the applicant´s experience and interests.

GLASS PAINTING

Teaching of basic brush stroking: arranging petals into flowers, heart shapes, leaves, shading on unfired basic colour, rims painting, prepainting outlines of a dekor, preparing of a stencil and layout of a decor.

■ for advanced
Line and round relief applying, covering with protective varnish, applying of the first and second layers of high enamel. Applying gold colour onto fired colour, relief or high enamel.

GLASS CUTTING

Basic kept and moved flat V-shaped cuts and arches, simplier crosses, stars and more complex decors. Then little balls, olives, flats, rims shaping.
- recommended number of cycles: 2 to 3 weeks
■ for advanced
Training of different types of cuts is divided up to 5 moduls, which can be combined.
1. square cuts – simple patterns, simple complex square cuts on diamond wheels
2. matt – floral and animal cuts on electrite wheels
3. over-layed – coloured class, lead glass, soda-potash glass, mechanical polishing
4. facets – on carborundum, electrite, and diamont wheels, mechanical polishing
5. cutting of profiles – clear and cased glass on all types of wheels, mechanical polishing

GLASS FACETTING

Basic cutting of rims and bases of thin-walled blown glass of different shapes and diameters, cutting of smaller square glass blocks (paperweights, etc.), rounding of rims, fining and polishing.

■ for advanced
Facetting of pressed glass and flat, V-shaped, broken, and cylindrical facets of glass blocks and thick-walled blown glass. Then fining, polishing and cutting of edges.

GLASS ENGRAVING

Basic cutting on diamond and corundum wheels. Identification with instruments needed for glass engraving. Working on engraving machine single-handed.

■ for advanced
Advanced engraving techniques – formation of vegetable, animal and ornamental decoration. Implementation of own design. Possibiliti for combination with cutting, facetting and other glass techniques. Leaver can institute his/her own engraving work-shop.

DRAWING AND DESIGNING

The price is calculated for 6 people. It is increased if there is a lower number of applicants.

■ scope
A scope will be set individually according to experience of applicants. Drawing of still-lifes, portraits, bodies with fusains, pencils or pastels. Designing is specialized on glass engraving, cutting, fusing, glass painting and blowing. Any applicants can create his/her own project by making that with clay and gipsum/plaster.

STAINED GLASS

Cutting of simple shapes by paper template and rule. Working with instruments needed for stained glass single-handed.

Cutting of rounded shapes and compose figural stained glass and put stained glass to the frame. Create collor stained glass.
